Anatomy of The Centaur by Shadowglove Anatomy of The Centaur by Shadowglove

This is my anatomy of a centaur. I Know there's accually more drawings here like this one, but I wanted to do my own.

I don't knw the size of a centaur but I guess it's bigger than a human hehe. I want my centaur to be anatomicly correct (not in a dirty way). By that I mean that I want the upper human body to fit perfectly with the lower front part of the horse so it looks like the horses legs could fit perfect as the humans legs. I don't want a big horsebody and a small human body, it looks silly.

I only know the skeleton anatomy of this creature, the other is unknown to me. Since the centaur have two ribcages, does that mean that they have 4 pair of lungs? The most logical reason for haveing 4 pairs of lungs is that this is a big and heavy creature that needs all of this.
Oh well, it's fun to speculate.

Vintage stuffz I used for this one *thx*:

I think, the best explanation of the two rib cages is, that the upper ome only is the place for the much bigger heart, while the lower one is contailing the lungs, becaus the mail muscle for breating is the diafragm, and this is located in the lower body half

Does this mean that along with two ribcages, he has two stomachs? Centaur anatomy has always confused me.
And speaking of ribcages, what about his heart? Where is that? Good job with the drawing thou. Its very good. ;)

It's a figurative 'sir'

Nice job! I guess it would be safer to have all organs, like stomach and lungs, packed in the horse part and only muscles in the human part :)

the one question that always I questioned about centaurs ever since I was little... do they have two stomachs???? and two hearts??? double everything D:!?

May I ask you something? Noting about the picture, it is very well done and clear. But since the centaur has two ribcages, I wonder where the heart is located.

I would say that since it is a large creature, and a larger heart is needed to pump the extra blood in a regular pace. This enlarged heart, to me anyways, would be located in the Lower Ribcage. It would be centrally located so all body parts are getting fresh oxygen at relatively the same time and the thicker bones would protect it even more than the weaker, upper ribcage. That's my, probably wrong, opinion.

No that does make sense, actually. Ther is however, still the matter of lungs and ribcages. Having bigger lungs in the lower ribcase would make sense too, but then what's in the upper one?
